Annie For Target

When dressing my girls I always look for fun girly pieces to integrate into their everyday wardrobe. We're all familiar with the iconic movie Annie, released in 1982. In celebration of the new version of this classic movie Target is releasing a playful collection that fits any little girls style. The collection will be available in stores and online starting November 16th so make sure to check it out. 

 The movie will be in theaters December 19th and expect characters like Jamie Fox, Rose Byrne and Cameron Diaz. I hope you have a great Thursday!

Al vestir a mis hijas siempre busco piezas femeninas y divertidas para integrar en su guardarropa diario. Todos estamos familiarizados con la película icónica Annie, que fue lanzada en el 1982. En la celebración de la nueva versión de esta clásica película Target  va a lanzar una colección muy linda que se adapta a cualquier estilo de niñas. La colección estará disponible en las tiendas y en la pagina web a partir de Noviembre 16 así que asegúrese de visitar su tienda más cercana.

  La película estará en los cines desde el 19 de Diciembre y esperen actores como Jamie Fox, Rose Byrne y Cameron Díaz. Espero que tengan un feliz Jueves!

El Viejo Jobo Restaurant

Many of you always ask me if I ever visit Dominican Restaurants, and the answer is 'yes! Yes I do'. I grew up eating this type of food and although I rarely eat it now (due to where I live) there are times when I take my girls to eat at one of my favorites. There are hundreds of restaurants serving the same food in uptown Manhattan but no one does it like El Viejo Jobo. The place is a little tight nonetheless if you like experiencing new cultures and great food you would love this place. They play spanish music and almost always someone will be drinking a Presidente (Dominican Republic's national beer) and randomly singing/dancing. 

This restaurant is a favorite of my family for it's homey staff, music and food. Just to say, this is the closest I've ever came to my dad's amazing cooking! & trust me, no one cooks spanish food like my dad. My daughters love the white rice and red beans accompanied with Pollo al Caldero, it melts in your mouth. I know this may sound weird to some but to me and my girls it's totally normal. We like eating rice and beans with a banana. My husband always teases me saying, 'How do you eat your food with a fruit? Should I eat my curry with an apple?' haha!

It's so normal for us though. Dominicans eat loads of plantains. Wether it's boiled, mashed, fried, steamed, we love them anyway! These squished plantains are called 'tostones'. They're peeled green plantains, cut into thick pieces then fried. Pulled out from the fryer after 2-3 minutes, squish with a flat surface, then re-fry them till crispy. When you pull them out the oil sprinkle a little bit of salt and enjoy:) Many people eat them with ketchup, I like them plain as a snack or as a side dish.

Everything in this place is delicious and always brings me back to my childhood. Like this chicken soup which has spaghetti, potato, carrots and chicken simmered in a flavorful broth. The soup is served with white rice as the traditional way of eating it involves spooning rice into the soup bowl and submerging the spoon into the broth. I love adding hot sauce and avocado to it. This soup is certain to take your cold away:)

Denim and Layers For Fall

It's already November (I know, I'm a little late).
We are getting closer and closer to Thanksgiving, my wedding anniversary, my birthday, Christmas and New Years (in that order).  I find the best time spent is with family and that's why I love these celebrations, because I get to see my entire family and reminisce on the times when we were kids (even though I still feel  like one). 

Today I'm taking the 'Autumn layering' seriously. When I wore this outfit my husband said to me, "you look like confused Spring" {whatever that is} but, do I really? I love the denim-on-denim look and since it was windy I thought adding this neutral zara jacket would make the outfit look a little more cool.

This Bailey hat is my favorite Spring/Summer and Fall hat. It makes every outfit look more put-together. But since it's my husbands it fits me big and wearing it on this windy day was a bad idea. 

I don't normally wear jeans but when I do they are always dark. I only own one pair of jeans that are light and I rarely wear them. These basic skinny jeans are by Vigoss. They are stretchy and super comfortable to wear all day long. 

I've had this jacket for a few months and I've only wore it twice (this being the second time). A good denim jacket is an essential in one's closet even during the colder months. As you can see here, it's great for layering. Nonetheless, I know I'll get good use out of it during Spring and Summer 2015. 

Look at these booties from Easy Spirit! Look at that heel! These are the lowest boots I own (other than my gym sneakers). It's insane to think I'm actually comfortable and enjoying these classic booties. Easy Spirit is known for their comfortable shoes and these are no exception.   

I know this is totally random but yesterday my daughter cracked my lip with her head and i'm just noticing now that I might need stitches, ouch!

I've been doing those for years and have gotten a great response so I decided to share more inspirational quotes on here. This is going to be an intimate post for my fellow Trendy Moms who just tucked their kids in bed and simply want a little time for themselves. 

Over the past few months I have become more outspoken, more mature, confident and more comfortable in my own skin. I am only now discovering who I am and who I want to be. 

The message I always try to convey to my readers is 'when you look good you feel good' and that has plenty to do with how you feel about yourself and the amount of comfort you have in being YOU. Of course scents, lances and a little wine helps too.

I know I'm not the only person who likes to wear perfume for bed! I actually got this habit from my sweet aunt, Yolanda. Lately I've been spritzing a little bit of Wild Essence by Halle Berry to my wrist after jumping out the shower. This fragrance has fresh citrus and floral notes that are very soothing to me and almost work as an aromatherapy.

This bra and underwear is by ThirdLove, an inexpensive luxury brand focusing on the technology and design for women's underwear. ThirdLove is the first bra brand to offer half sizes so each woman can find the perfect fit in a bra.  

I've been wearing this Shoe Lover polish by Anise for almost two weeks. I've got so many questions about it on instagram and Facebook. I absolutely love this shade and texture of green for the nails during the holidays. 

I just received this Pinot Noir bottle of wine by SIMI Sonoma County. I am thinking of sharing a delicious bbq sauce with you this week using this wine. Would you like that?

Fun At Lucky Strike

I haven't done one of these posts in a while so I wanted to share a great place to go out with your family and friends this weekend. So plan ahead:)  

I've been a longtime fanatic of Lucky Strike and every year my family and I visit this place at least 3-4 times. I love planning!! That's what I do best and when my husband gave me the idea of going bowling with his coworkers and their families, I thought it was brilliant. It was a great way of meeting them and getting to know them outside the corporate world.  

Lucky Strike has many locations around US and Canada. There are two locations in NYC. The one I always visit is the 42nd street location. It's in the heart of the city and the staff is so accommodating. The atmosphere is live, the food is good (specially the artichoke and spinach dip) and it's kid friendly. I think when you become a mother/father you appreciate places like these. Places that you're able to bring the entire family, plus everyone has a great time. Lucky Strike provides lighter balls and many tools for kids to bowl all night long while the grownups enjoy a beer/cocktail while catching up. You can easily sneak out to the billiards section across the alley (only two steps away) to play a  game with friends. What I love about this place in particular is that it is an open space and the neon lights/decor gives the setting (even though it's kid friendly) a nightlife feel.

Yo no he hecho uno de estos puestos desde hace tiempo, así que quería compartir un gran lugar para salir con su familia y amigos este fin de semana. Así que planifiquen con tiempo:) 

Siempre e sido una fanática de Lucky Strike y todos los años mi familia y yo visitamos este lugar por lo menos 3-4 veces. Me encanta planear!! Eso es lo que hago mejor, y cuando mi marido me dio la idea de ir a los bolos con sus compañeros de trabajo y sus familias, pensé que era una idea genial. 

Lucky Strike tiene muchos lugares en todo los Estados Unidos y Canadá. Hay dos ubicaciones en Nueva York. La que yo siempre visito es la ubicación que esta en la calle 42 en Manhattan. Está en el corazón de la ciudad y el personal es muy servicial. Me gusta el ambiente, la comida es buena (especialmente el dip de alcachofa y espinacas) y es adecuado para los niños. Creo que cuando usted se convierte en una madre/padre apreciamos lugares como estos. Lucky Strike ofrece pelotas más ligeras y muchas herramientas para que los niños disfruten toda la noche mientras los adultos disfrutan de una cerveza/cóctel. Usted puede colarse fácilmente a la sección de billar que esta localizado detrás de los bolos. Claro también puedes jugar con los niños porque eso fue lo que yo hice. Lo que me encanta de este lugar en particular es que es un espacio abierto y las luces/decoración da una sensación de noche (a pesar de que es adecuado para los niños). 

Lugares que ofrecen buena música, buena comida y buenos juegos son lugares que me gustan compartir.

It's Friday! | My Life Update

Happy Friday and Happy Halloween!!

I know I've been missing these past two days and here's the reason why. Ever since I became a pescetarian I have been so weak! I didn't properly plan a diet (which was a huge mistake!). It's been two weeks and my body just started getting used to not having meat. This drastic change is a part of my new and better-self for 2015. My dad was a vegetarian for 7 years and he says; "those were the best times of my life". I didn't want to wait till December/January to make this a 'New Year's Resolution'. You truly have to be a dedicated person to make things go right in your life and you must act now. There's nothing more disappointing than a procrastinator and I refuse to be one. I truly feel this is just a small change I want for myself in growing as a healthier human being. My previous goal was to weight 115 and workout at least 4 days a week to get toned and build muscle. Thankfully, that goal was achieved!! I now weight 114 and workout at least 6 days a week. It almost becomes an obsession after your body gets used it. The eating part has always been my downfall because I love food more than the average person. I'm not going to lie- It feels horrible cooking meat for my family and not being able to eat it, some say it's torture, I say it's discipline. 

I just wanted to give you a little bit of an update on my life. New posts coming soon;)

Feliz viernes y ¡Feliz Halloween !! 

Sé que he estado perdienda estos últimos dos días, y aquí está la razón por qué. Desde que me convertí en una vegetariana he estado tan débil! No planeé adecuadamente una dieta (que fue un gran error!). Ya han pasado dos semanas y yo sólo estoy empezando a acostumbrarme. El punto de este cambio drástico es una parte de mi nueva y mejor persona para el 2015. Yo no quería esperar hasta Diciembre/Enero para hacer de este una 'Resolución de Año Nuevo'. Usted realmente tiene que ser una persona dedicada para que las cosas vallan bien en su vida y usted debe actuar ahora. No hay nada más decepcionante que una persona indecisa y yo me niego a ser una de esas. 

Mi papá fue un vegetariano por 7 años y él dice; "esos fueron los mejores momentos de mi vida". Yo realmente siento que esto es sólo un pequeño cambio que quiero para mí en el crecimiento como un humano saludable. 

Se siente horrible cocinar carne para mi familia y no poder comerla. Algunos dicen que es tortura, yo digo que es disciplina. 

Sólo quería darles un poco de actualización de mi vida. Nuevas entradas vienen pronto al blog;)
