Who says denim can't be couture?
This Paris Haute Couture Week, Levi's® is proving that one of fashion's most iconic fabrics belongs on the couture runway. In an exciting first for the American heritage brand, Levi's® has teamed up with acclaimed French designer Christelle Kocher to debut a breathtaking 10-look capsule collection that reimagines classic denim through the artistry of Parisian haute couture.
Known for her "Couture-à-Porter" philosophy and her work as Artistic Director of Maison Lemarié—one of CHANEL's prestigious Métiers d'Art ateliers—Kocher brings exceptional craftsmanship to some of Levi's® most recognizable pieces. Think the iconic 501® jeans and the classic Type II Jacket, elevated with intricate embroidery, delicate featherwork, sculptural silhouettes, and hand-finished details.
The result is a collection that feels both timeless and unexpected.
Denim gowns draped like eveningwear, dramatic feather capes, floral-inspired bustiers crafted from layered denim plissé, and couture separates blur the line between everyday fashion and wearable art. Each piece showcases the incredible versatility of denim while celebrating the centuries-old craftsmanship synonymous with French couture.
Accessories are equally captivating. The Levi's® Baby Brooklyn Bag receives a couture makeover, while oversized feather headpieces add movement, drama, and a theatrical finish to the collection's runway looks.
What makes this collaboration even more remarkable is the level of craftsmanship behind every design. Using denim as the foundation, the collection incorporates hand embroidery, lace applications, floral constructions, leather embroidery, resin-coated denim, and innovative textile treatments developed through extensive experimentation at Levi's® Eureka Lab.
"It was a privilege to bring these two teams together and see this collection come to life," shared Christelle Kocher. "This capsule reflects my life between the United States and France, two countries that fuel my creative energy."
For Levi's®, the collaboration represents a defining fashion moment.
"Bringing Levi's to Paris Haute Couture for the first time is a major moment for us," said Mathilde Vaucheret, Vice President of Europe Marketing & Brand Experience. "Christelle brings a distinctly Parisian perspective with a modern edge that complements our denim heritage."
The accompanying campaign, photographed by Kayla Connors, captures the striking contrast between raw American denim and refined couture craftsmanship. Close-up imagery highlights every feather, embroidered detail, sculptural fold, and textured finish, giving viewers an intimate look at the artistry behind each garment.
While Levi's® has always been synonymous with effortless American style, this capsule proves the brand is equally at home in the world of luxury fashion. The collection celebrates innovation, craftsmanship, and cultural exchange, demonstrating that denim can be transformed into something truly extraordinary without losing its authenticity.
As fashion continues to embrace the intersection of heritage and high design, the Christelle Kocher for Levi's® capsule stands as one of the most exciting collaborations of the season—and a reminder that even the most familiar wardrobe staple can become couture in the right hands.
Would you wear couture denim? We have a feeling this won't be the last time Levi's® surprises us on the Paris runway.
