I must admit that I've been missing the hot sun, cool breeze and warm sand of the Caribbean. Thank goodness for these HUE leggings that can temporarily ease the pain of being in this crazy NYC weather. Over the weekend it was hot and stifling for a few hours to later get very chilly, although it's nothing a blazer cant fix.

Help Raise Money for Cancer Research

I wanted to share this special invitation that is happening TODAY! It's a Mothers Daughter tea, book reading and vintage Chanel and Hermes trunk show that Kirna Zabete and The Vintage Contessa are holding to raise money for pediatric cancer research.

The event will be happening on May 17th from 11am to 2pm at the Kirna Zabete store in Soho, and a portion of proceeds from sales on the day will go to The Scarlett Fund at Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Centre. The day marks the New York launch of the new children's book The Vintage Contessa & Princessa, which has been written to raise money for pediatric cancer research around the country. Below I've included a few images from the items that will be sold this date. Get excited ladies. 

It's Wicked

There's no better feeling than feeling comfort out-of-your comfort zone. I know that makes no sense at all, therefore, I will explain. As I mentioned on my previous post, I've been stepping out of what I normally do and trying new things. After doing this I've discovered a completely new side of me that [to be quite honest] I love. & from all the comments on my social media accounts, you do too. This look was definitely inspired by Beyonce's Met Gala look, Maleficent which I'm D-Yinggg to go see (May 30th) and the inner rebel that we all have within.

Seeing Florals

Of course florals are Spring's #1 trend for obvious reasons. There's something about wearing this print that make you feel part of nature. Today I styled something I never thought i'd do, a matchy-matchy head-to-toe floral look. I wasn't going to style these two Zamrie pieces together at first. Originally I was going to wear a white blouse and white blazer. However, I wanted to try something out of my comfort zone and needless to say, I am now obsessed with this combination. Never say never, right?

The trick behind wearing head-to-toe florals is to keep the accessories all gold, or, all silver and as minimal as possible. Try not to add any other colors unless it blends with the florals like I did here. I added a pop of orange with this clutch by Hunting Season only because the outfit has bits of orange throughout. Just keep the colors flowing. You know everything looks better with shades on, therefore I added these from PYTCollection.

Hoy me puse algo que nunca pensé que me pondria, una mirada floral de pies a cabeza. Al principio no me iba a poner estas dos piezas de Zamrie juntos. Mi primer pensamiento fue que me iba a poner una blusa y una chaqueta blanca. Sin embargo, quería probar algo fuera de mi zona de comodidad y no hace falta decir, ahora estoy obsesionada con esta combinación. Nunca digas nunca, ¿no?

El truco detrás de usar flores de la cabeza a los pies es mantener los accesorios lo mas mínimo posible. Trate de no añadir ningún otro color, a menos que se mezcla con las flores como lo hice aquí. Añadí un toque de naranja con este embrague de Hunting Season sólo porque el taje tiene trozos de naranja por todas partes. Lo ven?

Dinner At A Stranger's Home

I absolutely love unique experiences and more so, I love sharing them with you. Today I'm sharing my experience with EatWith, and online website where you book a reservation and eat in a stranger's home. Yes, you read it correctly. This is the way it works; you go on EatWith.com and search for your location or click on 'Find A Meal'. Then you browse experiences, or, the type of food you'd like to eat and pick one. Then you book a date or you can also request a date. You pay through the site and will momentarily receive a confirmation from the host providing the location, etc.

At first I was a little skeptical about the idea of going to a strangers house and dinning with people I didn't know. Then I read all about EatWith's policy. They verify individuals before allowing them to become a host. Of course this made me feel a lot better and I decided to give it a try. I chose to eat with professional chef Anabella because she was offering Venezuelan food and I had never tried it. I also knew I would enjoy conversing with her in spanglish through the night. Anna made a 3 course Venezuelan dinner including dessert (see details here).

What to wear on Mother's Day?

Mother's day is in two days (May 11th) Woohoo! I don't know about you but I love Mother's Day. No, no, it's not because of the gifts but because we're appreciated by not only our friends and family but by everyone else. You walk down the streets with your family and you hear everyone wishing you a happy Mother's Day. It's a nice feeling, you know. With that said, I've teamed up with Charlotte Russe to share a girly, classy and inexpensive way to look your absolute best on this special day. El día de las madres es en dos días (11 de Mayo) Woohoo! Yo no sé ustedes, pero ami me encanta el Día de las Madres. No, no, no es por los regalos, sino porque somos apreciadas no sólo por nuestros amigos y familia, sino por todos los demás. Smiles & Zig Zags

Today Zareena is wearing a beautiful zig zag maxi dress by CoolKidsBklyn. This dress can be dressed up or down. We were headed to the doctors office and was going for a more casual look. If we were attending to a Summer event or a birthday party, I would have added a white denim jacket like this one here,  a funkier headband like this one here and while shoes/sandals like these. The dress it-self is beautiful, very comfortable and has a lot going on with the print. Therefore, everything else must be minimal.

Si íbamos a un evento especial o una fiesta de cumpleaños yo habría añadido una chaqueta de mezclilla blanco, como este de aquí, una diadema más divertida como éste aquí y unas sandalias como estas. El vestido es hermosisimo y muy cómodo así que todo lo demás debe ser mínimo .

Life's a beach

There's something about walking on the beach barefoot on a sunny day that reminds me of my childhood. Not that I visited the beach often as a child. Although the hand full of times I did, stuck to my memory like 'butter on a roll'. The salty smell. The foamy water running through your feet. The fresh breeze blowing your hair to the point of tangling madness. The liberty of seclusion. The ghost crabs running around like World War II was approaching. All the elements of paradise combined into one place that it's no-doubt- about it, priceless.

Hay algo acerca de caminar en la playa descalzo en un día soleado que me recuerda a mi infancia. No es que yo visité la playa a menudo como una niña, pero el puñado de veces que lo hice, se pego a mi memoria como 'mantequilla en pan'. El olor a sal. El agua espumosa que corre a través de sus pies. La brisa fresca que sopla su pelo hasta el punto de enredamiento. La libertad de la reclusión. Los cangrejos fantasmas corriendo como que la Segunda Guerra Mundial se acerca. Todos los elementos del paraíso combinados en un lugar que no tiene precio.

Into The light

These past two weeks of my life have gone from 0 to 60. I feel so blessed for everything that is currently happening in my personal life and on NYTM. I wanted to take the time to share a few quotes that I live by day-to-day because many of you have been emailing me about life issues and I want to help. There are so many things I am more appreciative for now, include certain individuals that I never notice before. "I was blind until I opened my eyes". Take a look around you, see who is always there for you and who is willing to help. Hold on to those genuine souls who will lift you higher. Your life blooms depending on those around you. My recent family vacation validated this for me. Being a strong individual in this cruel world definitely pays off. Learn to let go of those who are deteriorating your life and you'll see a significant amount of progress. & remember, no matter what you're going through, life goes on.
