This is the second Jigsaw London dress I own and perhaps my favorite! You might remember me wearing this 'Blue Depths Print Dress' a few weeks ago to meet Martha Stewart (which she complimented) here. I also wore it to the Icons Of Style Awards with the very popular magazine, Vanidades (here) and I finally got the chance to take photos with it a few days ago. This very sophisticated dress needs minimal accessories because 'beauty doesn't need attention'. Ok- I'll stop with the quotes.. but seriously, I love this dress!

Reminiscing, Island Joy

It's Flashback Friday and I wanted to share a few photos that never made it to the previous blog posts. 

If you don't already know, my parents were born and raised in the Dominican Republic. DR is a place that I hold very close to my heart and that I visit annually. Every time my family and I go we stay at a different place. On our last visit we stayed in Sosua and the time before that we stayed in Samana. 

Dominican Republic is the only place in the world that I can tolerate the heat. It could be 115 degrees and for some very strange reason, I will be OK with it. 

A year ago I visited Bangladesh, a place where the weather gets very high.. I mean 100+ degrees high. While there I had to wear traditional clothing which is; cotton from head to toe (pants, long sleeve top and a scarf). This is believed to help keep you cool from the sun, but, I was dying!! Most of the time I wanted to stay indoors because the sun would be beaming like crayyyzy!  

Like I said before, there's just something about Dominican Republic that simply makes the heat tolerable and enjoyable. I hope you all enjoy these precious photos from our Dominican Republic family vacation.

Es Viernes de recuerdos y yo quería compartir algunas fotos que nunca llegaron a las entradas del blog anteriores.

Si usted no lo sabe ya, mis padres nacieron y se criaron en la República Dominicana. Este es un lugar que tengo muy cerca de mi corazón y que visito cada año. Cada vez que mi familia y yo vamos nos quedamos en un lugar diferente. En nuestra última visita nos alojamos en Sosua y el tiempo antes nos alojamos en Samaná.

República Dominicana es el único lugar en el mundo que puedo tolerar el calor. Hace un año visité Bangladesh, un lugar donde el clima se pone muy alto .. me refiero a más de 100 grados de altura. Cuando estuve aya tuve que usar la ropa tradicional que es; algodón de la cabeza a los pies (pantalones, camiseta de manga larga y una bufanda). Las personas creen que ayuda a mantenerse fresco del sol, pero, yo me estaba muriendo!! La mayor parte del tiempo quería quedarme en casa porque el sol estaba demasiado radiante!

Como he dicho antes, hay algo acerca de República Dominicana que simplemente hace que el calor sea tolerable y agradable. Hoy les enseño fotos de mis vacaciones con mi familia.

I don't know how many times my family and I passed through this restaurant and didn't even notice it. The place has 3-4 cheesy photos outside the restaurant of a few things they serve. I honestly think it looks very unappetizing and doesn't do the place justice. This is a great example to the famous metaphorical phrase 'don't judge a book by it's cover'.

Having a small or big dinner party is no joke! The cleaning, the prepping, the cleaning, the chopping, the cleaning and did I already say the cleaning? A few days ago I visited my husbands aunt's house and she pretty much invited the entire family over! I'm talking over 15 people were there and I kept on asking myself, 'How does she do it?!'. I tend to get really anxious when I'm having 3 people over because I'm a bit of a perfectionist (as most of us are). I have to scrub each and every corner of my bathroom/kitchen, clean all the tomato sauce that Leanne spilled from earlier's lunch and all that oil that sparked out on the cabinets from last nights fried chicken wings. I mean, the house MUST-BE-PERFECT!

Happy Monday Everyone! Even though.. there's nothing 'happy' about going back to work, right? So they say! 

Part one of my husband's birthday surprise was taking him to Buvette, remember that? The second part was giving him the opportunity to see New York City like he's never seen it before. As a born and raised New Yorker it never crossed my mind hopping on a helicopter and riding around the city, because, I thought I had seen it all. But boy... was I wrong!

In the beginning of my pregnancy I remember not being able to find any shops that I liked for maternity wear until my third trimester when I found Destination Maternity. It's truly one of the rare good maternity shops that carries great trendy pieces for expectant moms. They also carry a great selection of known brands like 7 for all mankind, BCBG, French Connection, Nanette Lepore and many more. 

Dita Von Teese is now one of these wonderful designers at Destination Maternity. She just launched her first maternity line, exclusive to Destination Maternity. This caught my attention because this is something I strongly support, mothers looking and feeling good:) Just because you're a mother or are expecting doesn't mean you need to sacrifice being sexy. It's a great feeling when you can find that perfect piece (whether it's a dress, a pair of heels or a wonderfully laced lingerie) you deserve to look good for yourself, pregnant or not, all the time. 

I would like to congratulate a few of my friends (7 to be exact) that are currently expecting.

En el principio de mi embarazo recuerdo que no era capaz de encontrar alguna tienda que me gustaba para ropa de maternidad hasta mi tercer trimestre, cuando encontré la tienda Destination Maternity.  Es verdaderamente una de las tiendas de maternidad buenas que tienen piezas de moda para las futuras mamás. También llevan una gran selección de marcas conocidas como BCBG, French Connection, Nanette Lepore y muchos más. 

Dita Von Teese es ahora una de estas maravillosos diseñadoras de Destination Maternity. Ella acaba de lanzar su primera línea de maternidad, exclusivo en Destination Maternity. Esto me llamó la atención, porque esto es algo que apoyo firmemente, las madres que quieren verse bien:) Sólo porque eres una madre o estás esperando un bebe no significa que usted tiene que sacrificar ser sexy. Es una gran sensación cuando encuentras esa pieza perfecta, ya sea un vestido/un par de zapatos de tacón o una ropa interior, usted merece lucir bien para ti misma siempre. 

Me gustaría felicitar a algunas de mis amigas (7 para ser exacta) que actualmente están esperando un bebe.

It's Deep | Jigsaw London

Hey guys! I cannot express how happy I am that Autumn has officially started. I am completely obsessed with layering, as you will see soon. I purchased this leather jacket from Zara a few months ago, and if you follow me on Instagram you might remember me posting about it (see here). I thought the color contrast of the light and deep blue would be perfect paired together. This dress is by Jigsaw London, a loyal middle brand offering items which can be dressed up or down. They are essentially a blend of quirky British style that combines urban sophistication with “weekend in the country” chic. The company is based in the UK with over 60 stores.. whaaaatt?!! In the US they have 4 stores sprinkled along the west coast in Beverly Hills, Berkeley, Burlingame and San Francisco. Isn't it fascinating discovering new brands that offer great quality pieces for your everyday use?

If you follow me on instagram you might have noticed my obsession with Christina Karin over the years. I've worn her many times in the past (here, here and here). I knew I had to own a piece (or two) from her Fall collection and POW! Here it is! Isn't it stunning? I just can't get enough of her aesthetic and creativity. All her designs are unique and comfortable to wear. Every time I wear her designs I feel like a million bucks, and I rarely say that about any designers.
